Reaction times in netball terms can mean the difference between being left standing or swiping the ball from your unsuspecting opposition. In order to help you improve your players’ reaction times we’ve created this session to test your players and keep them thinking quickly on their feet.
How does reaction time help in sport?
Reaction time affects performance, and the better your reaction time, the better you will perform in certain situations (though as always this is limited). For example, a football player who has a faster reaction time will be able to respond faster when his opponent tries to beat him.

Power plays a fundamental role in netball. You need power in your lower body when jumping to block shots or sprinting to reach a loose ball, and you need power in your upper body for making passes and shooting goals.
How do you get faster in netball?
The quickest and best way to get fit for netball is by using a combination of lifting weights and Fartlek/interval training. Netball is a very stop and start sport so there is little point training by running at the same speed for 30 minutes as you would never run at the same speed for 30 minutes in a netball game.

When you do those exercises, you’re firing up the central nervous system just like you would if you were naturally responding to a stimulus. This creates neural connections between your brain and your body. The more you train those movements, the stronger the connection will be.
